Meet the Voice Behind the V

Veronica Freeman — born December 17, 1977 — is the powerhouse vocalist behind Benedictum and the unstoppable solo force known as The V. She didn’t just find heavy metal. Heavy metal found her.

“This isn’t about age. This is about evolution. Confidence refined. Power revealed.”

01 · The Beginning

A Calling, Not a Choice

When Veronica was introduced to metal, she fell in love with the power and energy of it immediately. Longtime friend and guitarist Craig Goldy was the one who encouraged her to try singing — and nothing was ever the same.

02 · The Partnership

Freeman & Pete Wells

Veronica and guitarist Pete Wells became close friends and creative partners, writing and performing together in bands including Medusa and the Malady before deciding it was time to move to a new level.

03 · The Band

Benedictum Is Born

With help from Craig Goldy, they were introduced to musician Jeff Pilson, who helped promote the group. What started as local San Diego shows became an international heavy metal force. Benedictum was unstoppable.

04 · The Evolution

The V Rises Solo

In 2015, Veronica stepped fully into her own spotlight as The V, releasing her debut solo album Now or Never — a record that drew on her full range and featured legends of the genre as collaborators.
